SIALKOT: Minister for Water and Power Khwaja Muhammad Asif has said that the federal government is committed to cope with energy crisis on top priority basis.
During his visit to the Muslim League House on Sunday, he said that the government will allocate huge funds during next fiscal year for power generation and this process will continue to fulfill its promise for getting rid of the load shedding.
Asif said that the government mobilising all resources and channels to get rid of the load shedding at earliest and by virtue of effective policies of the government, the duration of load shedding has been reduced to many folds as compare to the previous year. The government will fulfill its promises regarding energy because Pakistan’s energy security is top priority of the government, he said.
“We are already working on strategy for overcoming the energy crisis besides under the programme of long, medium and short term power generation plans had already been initiated in Pakistan.” He said that the government was making adequate efforts for strengthening and stabilising the industrial sector because the industrial sector is backbone of the national economy.
The minister said that government was utilising sufficient funds for improving the means of communication in rural and urban areas of the country. The basic objective of improving the means of communication was to bring neglected areas at equal par with the developed ones of the country, he added.
He said that the mega project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will play pivotal role in bringing revolutionary changes and usher economic stability and prosperity in the country. Similarly, Gwador port will also play a dominating role in strengthening national economy and overall development of the country, he added. Gwador port and CPEC projects will open new vistas of development and prosperity as well as ensure employment opportunities for the people of the country, he said.
Earlier, addressing the people in ‘open court’ the minister assured that government was making adequate efforts for resolving the problems of the people at their door steps on priority basis.
The minister said that federal and provincial governments were utilising all available resources for the timely completion of projects for the provision of basic facilities to general public. He also heeded the complaints and ordered officers of departments concerned to resolve people’s complaints. Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Khawaja Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt and Choudary Muhammad Ikram were also present on the occasion.
